Some stories don’t begin with grand plans or business blueprints. Some start with love, loss, and the deep desire to make a difference.
For Linley and me, our journey into the world of cat rescue, senior pet care, and FIP awareness wasn’t something we planned—it was something we lived. It was written in the tiny paw prints left on our hearts by Miss Holley, Mr. Fry, and Bronnie, our three senior cats who changed our lives forever.
And then, it was rewritten when Smokey, Pecco, and Floki entered our world—bringing light back into a home that had felt far too empty.
This is our story.
Linley and I have always been cat lovers. Not in a casual, “We have a cat” kind of way—but in the deeply devoted, all-in, our-cats-are-family kind of way. Over the years, we had the privilege of sharing our home with some of the most incredible felines.
Miss Holley, Mr. Fry, and Bronnie weren’t just pets; they were our family.
But when we lost them all within a short period, our home fell silent. No soft purring at night, no paws padding across the floor, no warm, furry bodies curling up next to us. Just silence.
We knew we needed time to grieve. But we also knew this:
Our home wasn’t meant to be empty.
We weren’t meant to wake up without little faces waiting for breakfast. We weren’t meant to sit on the couch without a cat snuggling beside us. We weren’t meant to live without that unconditional love.
And so, we began searching for new family members—not to replace the ones we lost, but to fill our home with love again.
We weren’t in a rush to adopt. We wanted to wait until the right cat found us.
And then we met Smokey.
Smokey was a Blue Russian mix at a local cat rescue. The moment we saw him, we felt that familiar pull—the one that tells you, “This cat is meant to be yours.”
But it was Smokey who chose us.
As soon as we walked in, he locked eyes with us. He didn’t hesitate. He came right up, rubbed against us, and purred like he already knew he was coming home with us.
We signed the adoption papers that day. Smokey was ours.
The house suddenly felt a little warmer. A little more alive. But there was still something missing.
A month later, we realized Smokey needed some company.
And that’s when we heard about two little brothers at another rescue. Twin kittens, inseparable, looking for a home together.
Their names? Floki and Pecco.
Something about them just felt right. Maybe it was the fact that they were brothers, like our own Mr. Fry and Bronnie had been. Maybe it was the way they curled up together, as if they’d always belonged.
We went to meet them, and just like Smokey, they chose us immediately.
When we brought them home, Smokey took one look at them, sniffed them, and gave us a look that said, “Alright, these guys are staying, aren’t they?”
And just like that, our family was complete again.
The house was filled with purring, chaos, and laughter once more. The emptiness was gone.
Love had returned.
We didn’t start Smokey & Bros as a business idea. We started it as a way to heal.
Losing Miss Holley, Mr. Fry, and Bronnie had left us heartbroken—but adopting Smokey, Pecco, and Floki reminded us that love doesn’t end.
It grows. It continues. It finds a way back to you.
That’s why we created Smokey & Bros—to honour the past while embracing the future. To keep the memory of our beloved senior cats alive, while celebrating the joy of new beginnings.
One of the biggest reasons we launched Smokey & Bros was to raise awareness and funds for FIP research.
For those who don’t know, Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) is a devastating disease. It was once considered a death sentence for cats, especially young kittens.
❌ It mainly affects young kittens and cats with weaker immune systems.
❌ It was once considered 100% fatal—until recent breakthroughs in treatment.
❌ Many cat owners don’t even realize it exists—until it’s too late.
We lost one of our beloved cats to FIP. It was one of the hardest things we had ever been through. We felt helpless. We didn’t want any other cat owner to go through what we did.
That’s why a portion of every sale from Smokey & Bros goes toward FIP research and helping shelters care for cats in need.
In addition to supporting FIP research, we’re also committed to helping local cat shelters in Western Australia.
There are so many amazing rescue organizations doing incredible work—caring for abandoned, sick, and senior cats. But they need funding to keep going.
Through Smokey & Bros, we’re dedicated to:
✅ Donating a portion of every sale to cat rescue groups.
✅ Helping to spread awareness about senior cats in need of homes.
✅ Working towards a better future for cats in Australia.
Every time you shop with us, you’re not just buying a cat-themed product.
You’re helping provide food, shelter, and medical care for cats who need it most.
That’s the heart of what we do.
If you’ve made it this far, we just want to say:
❤️ Thank you.
Whether you’re here because you love cats, you believe in supporting animal welfare, or you simply want to be part of something meaningful—we’re grateful.
At the end of the day, Smokey & Bros is about more than just products. It’s about:
✔ Keeping the memory of Miss Holley, Mr. Fry, and Bronnie alive.
✔ Supporting research into FIP treatments.
✔ Helping cat shelters in Western Australia.
